Bhilai- a secret garden

Nelumbo nucifera (Lotus ) bud

The main gate with an arch of Allamanda flowers.

I got to see this gorgeous specimen of a garden on a visit to my Uncle and Aunty’s home in Bhilai, a city in Durg district of Chhattisgarh state, India.

“Bua” has a green home, surrounded by various specimens of flowering and non flowering plants, trees, and a most prolific vegetable garden too.

The verandah at the entrance of the house.I would have loved to spend a few days here itself.

The fish tank , it even had baby sharks

Red Spinach (CHEERA) on the terrace

Curry leaves and banana-A Mallu heaven!

Something's up there!

We could spend only three days in this paradise but it was an unforgettable part of the kids education for till then they had seen plants and birds only in books, being locked up in high rise flats in Dubai.

Their home was like visiting an exotic resort with fish in water tanks and bird nests hanging overhead. Though unfortunately, both of them were having a spot of bad health, the garden flourished because of the love and dedication of my darling Bua.

They were watching these Baya Weaver (Ploceus philippinus) birds building their nests.

That is the male, I think. He has an yellow colour.
