Floral wonders at Ambalavayal, Wayanad

The regional agricultural research station at Ambalavayal, Wayanad is about 25 km east of Kalpetta. It enjoys a mild subtropical climate and grows a wide variety of crops like coffee, pepper, rice including scented varieties, spices like ginger, turmeric, clove, cinnamon, tropical and subtropical fruits, summer and cool season vegetables. The flower garden is an exquisite treasure, not to be missed!




ANTHURIUMS Also called as tailflowers, painted tongues or flamingo flowers.The flowering season is year round.

Fruits of Asclepias fruticosa. This strange plant is the African milkweed or Swan plant

Yellow Jacobinia or Justicia umbrosa -an ornamental plant native to Brazil was a pleasant surprise!
